An insanely fun outdoor event with live music, one GIANT DC Brau, Atlas Brew Works, Old Bust Head & Old Ox Brewery beer garden (the entire 3-acre park will be fenced off), and a friendly ground round smackdown among sixteen of the best chefs and restaurants in the DMV.
It all goes down in Gateway Park on Saturday, July 18th from 12pm – 6pm.
As a ticket holder, you get to try up to sixteen different not so mini-burgers from each competitor and vote for your favorite — all while enjoying live tunes and a few craft brews in the sunshine. At the end of the day, a winner for "Best BRGR of the Day" will be crowned. The winning meat master will take home a four-day, three-night ‘Eatcation’ in Austin, Texas, the Golden BRGR trophy and burger bragging rights for a year. The runner-up will snag four Diamond Club tickets to a Nationals home game and the Silver BRGR trophy.
Pretty sweet, right? Yeah, we think so too!
Gateway Park is a 3-acre park next to the Key Bridge with a super convenient location, space for 4,000 meatatarians and a killer view of the Washington Monument. So grab some comfy shoes and take a stroll across the Key Bridge, hail an Uber, ride the metro to Rosslyn and walk a block, or cruise there on your bike and lock it up on one of four available bike racks.
16 oz. craft drafts are available for five bucks apiece at three different craft beer bars located throughout the park. There are two additional craft beer bars located in the VIP section.
The DC BRGR Battle was designed to be a fun and affordable event that's best enjoyed with friends. For this reason, a single ticket is good for event access for one person, a wood coin to cast your vote, and a 'Burger Flight.'
A Burger Flight consists of five total tickets that can be exchanged for five different "not so mini-burgers." Four of the five tickets are for pre-selected competitors (detailed below under Burger Flight A, B, C and D). The fifth ticket, or "Bonus BRGR" as we like to call it, is selected at random from the three other Burger Flights that you did not purchase.
FOR EXAMPLE: If you buy 'Burger Flight A', you will get four tickets that can be exchanged for burgers from Willow, Big Buns, Medium Rare and RIS. You will then draw a fifth ticket at random from one the other twelve competitors in Burger Flight B, C or D. The ticket you draw is for a specific competitor and can be exchanged for one of their burgers.
Event access for one person and five tickets for five not so mini-burgers from Willow, Big Buns, Medium Rare, RIS and one competitor in Burger Flight B, C or D.
Event access for one person and five tickets for five not so mini-burgers from Boundary Stone, Brickside, Plan B, Team Liberty Tavern/Lyon Hall and one competitor in Burger Flight A, C or D.
Event access for one person and five tickets for five not so mini-burgers from Cafe Saint-Ex, Fainting Goat, Citizen Burger, 1905 and one competitor in Burger Flight A, B or D.
Event access for one person and five tickets for five not so mini-burgers from Chef Geoff's, Burger Tap & Shake, Georgetown Grilling Society, Mad Fox Brewing Co. and one competitor in Burger Flight A, B or C.
So all of your meat-eating friends are going to the Battle and you're a strict vegetarian? No problem, because this year we added the 'Veggie Burger Ticket.' A Veggie Burger ticket is good for event access for one and a token that can be exchanged for a delicious veggie burger with an assortment of fresh toppings, a side of fruit and a bag of Dirty Brand potato chips. For more information on the Veggie Burger Ticket, please visit our FAQ section.
As a VIP ticket holder, you will get access to a separate park entrance for easy event entry. Upon your arrival, you will get a souvenir cup that can be used to enjoy ice cold 22 oz. pours of delicious craft brew at any beer bar in the park for just five bucks. Additionally as a VIP, you will have access to a tented area (10' x 30') overlooking the left side of park and a private shaded area on the ride side of the park with plenty of tables and chairs, the best view of both stages, private bathrooms and two designated VIP craft beer bars so you never get stuck in line.
Tickets are processed and issued through TicketFly. On the morning of the Battle, a map of the event grounds will be posted on our FAQ page, facebook and twitter. On the day of the event, two huge banners with a detailed map of the event grounds will be hung in highly visible locations at Gateway Park. If you plan on enjoying a few delicious craft brews, please remember to bring a valid ID.
Please note that there are a limited number of tickets and once they sell out, that's it. The BRGR Battle sold out in 2013 and 2014, so don't wait too long to buy your tickets. Tickets are transferable but not refundable.

First and foremost, THANK YOU to all our amazing sponsors, charity partners, and restaurant participants that make The DC BRGR Battle possible. Last year we donated $.50 for each mini-burger slung to ten different local charities. In total, six-thousand burgers were served raising a total of three-thousand dollars! Our goal this year is to contribute fifteen-thousand dollars to DC Central Kitchen's efforts which include; reducing hunger with recycled food, training unemployed adults for culinary careers, serving healthy school meals, and rebuilding urban food systems through social enterprise.
Our mission is simple: to host a memorable event that brings a community together over delicious food, awesome craft beer, great tunes, and a few laughs. A big part of fulfilling our mission is to make sure that the event gets better and better each year.
Thanks to your feedback from last years' Battle, we believe that 2015 will be our best year yet.
Some notable additions for 2015 will include:
· A larger venue
· More craft beer bars
· More hours to eat burgers and enjoy live music
· A vegetarian burger station
· Plenty of bike racks
· A water fountain
